Robbins agrees to contract, will start as UA president June 1

TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) - Dr. Robert C. Robbins has accepted the contract offer from the University of Arizona to become the school's president.

The university made the announcement Friday, April 7 after the Arizona Board of Regents approved the deal. Robbins will start June 1.

The Arizona Board of Regents released a copy of the three-year contract.

Robbins will receive an annual compensation that totals $988,000. The three-year contract breaks done to the following:

  • Annual salary - $600,000
  • Yearly allowances for housing - $70,000; vehicle - $10,000
  • Pension contributions - $108,000 a year
  • $200,000 in private funds from the UA Foundation for an Endowed Presidential Leadership Chair

Robbins will replace outgoing UA President Ann Weaver Hart, whose compensation totals $670,000 a year.
