ADOT: Deadly crashes increasing in Pima County, across AZ

PIMA COUNTY, AZ ( Tucson News Now) - More and more people are losing loved ones to car crashes in Pima County and across the state.

The Arizona Department of Transportation has released new numbers that show crashes in Arizona are up more than 6 percent.

Statewide, deaths in car crashes are up more than 15 percent from 2014, jumping from 774 deaths to 895 in just one year.

Injuries across the state are also up from 50,988 people hurt to 53,554 injuries.

In Pima County, 91 people died on the roads in 2015, up from 88 in 2014.

The number of people hurt in crashes in Pima County has also increased.

Last year, 5,761 people had to go to the hospital because of a crash. In 2014, that number was 5,397.

Nearly 75 percent of crashes across the state happened between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m.
