PIMA COUNTY, AZ ( Tucson News Now) - With plenty of people are celebrating graduation this time of year, deputies with the Pima County Sheriff's Department are patrolling for those doing it irresponsibly.

The proactive approach to curb underage drinking in the county is a month-long effort, according to the PCSD.

Two common issues that deputies are enforcing in the springtime are delinquency of a minor and the county's social host ordinance.

The former includes more than buying/providing alcohol to someone underage, but the county ordinance focuses on adults who allow minors to drink on their property.

PCSD has several suggestions for parents to help prevent any problems.

  • Talk with your child about the liability your family could face by hosting a party.
  • Avoid leaving teens home alone overnight.
  • Monitor your child's social media pages for any chatter or large, unsupervised parties
