PIMA COUNTY, AZ ( Tucson News Now) - The deadline to register to vote for the Special Election in May is just one week away.

The cut-off is midnight on Monday, April 18, according to officials with the Pima County Recorder's Office.

The Special Election is Tuesday, May 17, 2016.

Unlike the Presidential Preference Election, the Special Election is open to all voters registered in Pima County.

Those who have moved, changed their name since their last voter registration, are new to Pima County, or would like to change their party affiliation, must fill out a new voter registration form in order for their vote to count.

Right now, there are roughly half a million registered voters in Pima County. According to the recorder's office, there are three options to register to vote:

Pima County residents can go to www.servicearizona.com to do so directly, download a form directly from the recorder's office website, or fill out a form at multiple locations throughout the county including all Pima County Recorder's Office locations and any Arizona Motor Vehicle Division branches.

For more information or if you have any questions, call 520-724-4330.

Voters should be getting Arizona Special Election Guide in the mail soon about what's on the Special Election ballot.
