Tucson sees increase in bicycle crashes

TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) - Tucson News Now recently received some numbers that may have people rethinking Tucson as a bike-friendly community.

Crashes between cars and bicyclists have gone up from 2014 to 2015.

According to the report from the Tucson Police Department, there were 269 reported crashes in 2014. In 2015, that number went up to 280. That is an increase of about one crash every month.

The numbers also show nine more cyclists were hurt in 2015 compared with 2014. Drivers and cyclists Tucson News Now spoke with were split on who is to blame.
