TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) - It's one of those things you worry about happening, but when you actually see it happen, it still surprises you.

Tucson News Now has obtained surveillance video showing a U.S Postal Service employee walking up to a home on the east side and tossing a package onto the door step.

"It's unacceptable. It's laziness," said Stephen Posey, who captured the moment on camera.

Posey said he was angry when he pulled up his surveillance system and saw the postal worker stop a few feet from his house and just throw his Amazon Prime package at the front door around 2:30 p.m. Sunday.

He lives off Brooks Drive near Golf Links and Kolb Roads.

"She was about six feet away from the door and she just tossed it," Posey said.

A USPS official told Tucson News Now that they take pride in every package they deliver.

They call this an unfortunate incident.

The official said the reason the woman is not wearing a uniform in the video is because part-time employees are not required to wear them on Sundays.

Posey is thankful his box of printer ink was not damaged, but said he wants to make sure mishandling of packages doesn't happen to anyone else.

"I definitely think some sort of corrective action needs to be taken, whether it's more training or - more than just a slap on the wrist," he said.

USPS officials said a full investigation into this case is now underway.

They do not plan to fire the employee, but said they will have her revisit their training guidelines. They have apologized to Posey.

They also released the following statement:

"Postal employees take great pride in their work delivering for the American public. A mishandled package is unacceptable and does not reflect the careful efforts of the thousands of professional, dedicated carriers and clerks in our workforce. The Postal Service takes the customer's complaint very seriously and a full, robust investigation is underway. We have apologized to the customer.

This incident was unfortunate – but the vast majority of the more than 4 billion packages shipped using the U.S. Postal Service each year arrive swiftly, safely and intact."
