American Idol's Tucson connection

TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) - It all started 15 years ago and this season will be the last for American Idol.

For some contestants, the journey began this summer.

In Tucson, hundreds if not thousands lined up outside Tucson Music Hall to take a shot at becoming the next American Idol. Country, jazz, classic and top 40 singers were all there to represent Southern Arizona on Wednesday.

On Wednesday, the first episode of this iconic pop show aired on Fox 11, and this season, Tucson fans may recognize a familiar face on the show. Brook Sample tried out in Tucson and made the cut.

On Thursday night, she continued through the rounds, and is advancing to Hollywood.
