COCHISE COUNTY, AZ (Tucson News Now) - Thanks to a grant from the Tohono O'odham nation the Sunsites Community Library, part of the Cochise County Library District will be able to purchase children's chairs.

"Cochise County has been the recipient of several grants previously, which have enabled various departments to implement programs that positively impact our residents," said Chairman Richard Searle, in a recent release. "We are grateful for this opportunity to make reading a more enjoyable experience for the kids by providing new chairs."

"Sitting and paying attention is a skill all children need to learn before they start school and now, thanks to the generosity of the Tohono O'odham Nation, we can provide each of our children their very own chair to sit in when they come for Storytime," said Lise Gilliland, Library Director.

According to a recent release from Cochise County the grant money was part of the Nation's annual distribution to local communities.  The process to receive the grant money is very competitive, with hundreds of organizations vying for funds. So far the Tohono O'odham have contributed millions of dollars to various state programs.

Sunsites Community Library is located in the northeast part of Cochise County near the historic mining town of Pearce. It is one of five libraries maintained under the Library District. For more information about the Library District, visit their website. https://www.cochise.az.gov/library/home
