TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) - The holidays should be a time of good cheer, but local law enforcement agencies are reminding folks that drunk driving is no way to celebrate.

Every year, there is an increase in DUI and alcohol-related deaths during the holidays.

The Arizona Department of Public Safety has a Southern Arizona DUI Task Force in Pima County, and they will be cracking down on drunk drivers over the holidays.

The Pima County Sheriff's Department is also stepping up their DUI patrols throughout the end of the year.

They plan to hold a DUI checkpoint over the weekend.

Authorities said anyone who plans on drinking should plan a safe ride home.

Arizona AAA is offering a Tipsy Tow that will help get you, a passenger and your car all home safely. It's free for up to ten miles.

"AAA has kept thousands of impaired drivers off the roadway since we began this program. You need to call 1-800-AAA-HELP, say you need a Tipsy Tow and you and a passenger and your vehicle will get towed for ten miles for free," Valerie Vinyard with AAA said.

"Tipsy Tow" runs on Christmas Eve from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m.

It will also be available for New Year's Eve from 6 p.m. on Dec. 31 to 6 a.m. on Jan. 1.
