TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) - The campaign of Republican presidential hopeful Donald Trump has reached out to the city of Phoenix about a possible rally next week.

City officials told Tucson News Now the campaign asked about the availability of the Phoenix Convention Center on Dec. 16.

The rally would be one day after the Republican debate in Las Vegas.

At this time, no agreement has been reached.

It would be Trump's second visit to the Phoenix Convention Center after he made a stop there in July.

Trump's staff has said they are considering other venues and would let the city know if they are booking the convention center again next week.

Even though nothing is official, Phoenix Mayor Greg Stanton spoke out about a possible Trump rally.

In a released statement, Stanton said he hopes "Trump does not bring his hateful message of division and intolerance back to Phoenix."

Stanton also said while "he has a First Amendment right to spew vile rhetoric," he said it is in contrast with the values of the city.
