TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) - Officials with the Tucson Police Department said five people have been detained on Monday in connection with an online threat against a Sunnyside Unified School District school.

Police said during a news conference at 2:30 p.m. that a search warrant was served within the past hour.

Police were observed searching vehicles at a residence near South 12th Avenue and West Nebraska Street. TPD Media Relations/Social Media Officer Kristopher Goins confirmed the search is related to the threats against the school.

No other details about the detainees was immediately available.

The school district canceled classes on Monday, Nov. 16 at the S.T.A.R. Academic Center.

An online threat posted to several social media pages had Tucson police taking precautionary measures.

According to Tucson police spokeswoman, Sgt. Kimberly Bay, extra TPD officers will be at the S.T.A.R. Academic Center campus this morning to "ease any tension."

Sunday night, Tucson police searched the S.T.A.R campus shortly after the threats were reported to them.

"Nothing was found at the school,"  Bay said. "We take all threats seriously."

The threat was posted on several social media sites, including SUSD and S.T.A.R. Academic Center's Facebook pages.

S.T.A.R. is listed on the Sunnyside Unified School District's website as an alternative high school with more than 150 students enrolled.

Tucson police ask anyone with information to call 911.
