TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) - The National Weather Service in Tucson has issued a flash flood warning for southeastern Pima County and north-central Santa Cruz County.

The warning will last until 3:15 p.m.

A flash flood warning is issued when a flash flood is imminent or occurring. If you are in a flood prone area move immediately to high ground. A flash flood is a sudden violent flood that can take from minutes to hours to develop. It is even possible to experience a flash flood in areas not immediately receiving rain.

The NWS said some locations that will experience flooding include Madera Canyon and western Sonoita.

Excessive runoff from the heavy rainfall is expected to cause flooding of washes, streams, roads as well as other drainage areas.
