TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) - The South Tucson City Council will hold a special meeting tonight at 6 p.m. to vote on an intergovernmental agreement with the City of Tucson for "emergency solid waste services."

South Tucson will lose garbage pickup service September 1.

Reportedly, the square-mile city owes private hauler Waste Management several hundred thousand dollars, and the company will stop serving the city September 1.

Tonight's city council meeting is scheduled to be held at 1601 S. 6th Avenue in the city council chambers.
